Install of the Month: Pavers & Turf by O’Neill’s
October 30, 2026
Monterey, CA — The Monterey area is known for some of the most famous golf in the world, and for some of the tightest water supplies in California. Homeowners here have lived with water limits for decades, which makes a thirsty natural grass lawn hard to justify, especially on a sloped lot where sprinkler water runs downhill before it ever soaks in. Artificial grass lets local homeowners keep a beautiful green lawn, and even a putting green of their own, without fighting the water bill or the hillside to do it. For one Monterey homeowner with a wide-open view of the bay, Pavers & Turf by O’Neill’s used Synthetic Grass Warehouse artificial turf to build a backyard lawn that looks like it rolls right off the hill and into the water.

Pavers & Turf by O’Neill’s recently installed 2,200 square feet of Synthetic Grass Warehouse’s Diamond Pro Fescue, Poly Putt 2-Tone Dark, and Pet Turf in a home in Monterey, CA. TigerTurf Diamond Pro Fescue, used for the main lawn, features dual field green and mid-olive green blade tones paired with a green and tan thatch for a full, natural look. With an approximately 75-ounce face weight and a 1.875-inch pile height, it’s one of the most durable landscape products in SGW’s lineup and holds up well to moderate and heavy foot traffic. Its 3D curvy “W” fiber springs back to shape after it’s walked on, and each blade is triple-reinforced into the K29 Quadruple-Layered Action Backing, which is perforated to drain more than 30 inches of rain per hour per square yard. Diamond Pro Fescue is also built with TigerCool technology, which lowers surface temperatures by up to 15 percent on sunny afternoons.
Everlast Poly Putt, used for the putting green surface, combines field green and lime green blades with an approximately 50-ounce face weight and a 0.5-inch pile height, giving the homeowner a smooth, true roll that plays like a perfectly-maintained course green. TigerTurf Pet Turf adds field green and clover green blade tones with green and tan thatch, and its 1-inch pile height and 60-ounce face weight make it a durable surface for areas that see heavy use. All SGW synthetic grass is manufactured with U.V. inhibitors to prevent fading, and it’s non-toxic, lead-free, and backed by an industry-leading warranty of up to 15 years.

The homeowner came to the project with one clear request: an infinity edge. Much like an infinity pool, the idea was for the lawn to run all the way to the brow of the hill so it would appear to drop straight into Monterey Bay, with nothing breaking up the view.
“The challenge was giving them that infinity edge without losing the view of Monterey Bay,” said Michael O’Neill, owner of Pavers & Turf by O’Neill’s, “but our crew overcame it and did a great job.”
The team shaped the hillside so the synthetic turf reads as one clean, uninterrupted line from the house, then set a grid of square pavers into the lawn to carry the patio out toward the edge and tucked a multi-cup putting green against the pines. O’Neill’s company recommends SGW products to its customers for their quality and how easily they install, and the homeowner now has a lawn that stays green all year with almost no water, plus a putting green with one of the best backdrops on the coast.

Pavers & Turf by O’Neill’s began more than 20 years ago as a hardscape and concrete company. As the business grew, O’Neill expanded into synthetic turf and became one of the first installers in Northern California to specialize in high-end artificial grass. That start in concrete and construction gave the team a deep understanding of drainage, grading, and compaction, the groundwork that decides how long a synthetic turf installation lasts. The company’s goal is simple: Build every customer their dream outdoor living space.
“When you contact us, you’re talking to the people who will actually show up and do the work,” O’Neill says. “We’re not finished until you’re satisfied with what we’ve built.”
Pavers & Turf by O’Neill’s is Synthetic Grass Warehouse’s Install of the Month winner for October 2026.
